Former Arkansas Gov Mike Huckabee made clear on Thursday night that he disapproved of the military’s recent move to lift its ban on openly transgender troops.

“The military is not a social experiment. The purpose of the military is kill people and break things,” Huckabee said during the GOP’s top-tier debate. “It is not to transform the culture by trying out some ideas that some people think would make us a different country and more diverse. The purpose is to protect America. I’m not sure how paying for transgender surgery for soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines makes our country safer.”

The Defense Department announced last month that it is putting in motion a working group to determine what would be required to lift the ban on transgender troops, which is rooted in outdated medical regulations. It is estimated that some 15,000 transgender individuals are serving in active duty or the reserves. Eighteen other countries allow open transgender military service.

I cleaned my cache out and I hit refresh on the main page. I saw that…and all of a sudden,

oh man. The funniest things in regards to that statement is: women in the military and eventually the service academies was a damn social experiment. Separate but equal in regards to most aspects of African American life was a damn social experiment.

He knows this. Chances are he’s aware that most of his home state senators (including one of the most well known senators of the late 20c century. Yep this is an edit.) were against desegregation (this little diddy being an example) and yet because its ‘candy land’, that…

yeh…back to contemplating ‘Gausman versus Dickey’.

  5. Only thing that matters is capability of doing the job. Whether you shoot strait, not if you are straight, or whatever genitalia you are sporting in your underwear.

Huckabee doesn’t know a fucking thing about the military or what he is talking about.
