After Microsoft unveiled its first line of company-branded tablets running Windows 8, called Microsoft Surface, in Los Angeles on Monday night, a number of market analysts and journalists have suggested that the products will hurt Microsoft’s partners in the P.C. business, manufacturers such as Hewlett-Packard, which are said to be working on their own Windows 8 tablets. A slideshow presentation leaked online in May indicated that HP was working on a tablet named the HP Slate 8 running Windows 8.
HP declined to comment on the news of Microsoft’s Surface announcement to TPM, but a spokesperson said “we haven’t announced specifics about our Window 8 tablet plans (other than to say we will participate in that business).”
