The Obama administration and House Republicans refused to find a middle ground in a dispute over documents related to a botched gun-tracking operation, and the GOP plunged ahead with plans for precedent-setting votes Thursday to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in civil and criminal contempt o Congress. Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday that Transportation Security Administration officers in airports should not be armed.

“Now, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t review the measures that are in place to keep people safe from the time that they get out of their cars and go into the terminals,” Holder told CNN.

The TSA said Saturday it would review its safety policies following a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport that left one TSA officer dead and several injured.

One union that represents federal security workers, American Federation of Government Employees, on Monday called for some TSA officers to be armed.
