In the wake of the Internal Revenue Service targeting scandal, Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID) asked U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Wednesday to investigate if the IRS leaked Mitt Romney’s tax returns during the 2012 presidential campaign.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) famously claimed in July of 2012 that an anonymous Bain Capitol investor divulged that the former Republican presidential nominee “didn’t pay any taxes for 10 years,” a statement which Romney vehemently denied.

“Do you know if the IRS leaked tax information related to Mitt Romney during the Republican presidential primary general campaign?” Labrador asked Holder during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.

“I don’t know,” Holder responded.

“And if you do not know, will you attempt to find out in your investigation?” Labrador followed.

“I’m not sure that — I’m not sure that I have a predicate for it,” Holder said.
