Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said Wednesday at the CNN town hall in New Hampshire that she wanted young people to know that she didn’t need their support to advocate for them.

CNN moderator Anderson Cooper asked Clinton why more women under 30 voted for rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in the Iowa caucus.

She told Cooper that she “didn’t really know.”

“Here’s what I want young people to know,” Clinton said, “They don’t have to be there for me, I’m going to be for them. It doesn’t really matter. If they are not supporting me, I will be their President. I will do everything I can to give them the opportunities they deserve.”

She continued on, noting that student debt, job opportunities, and income inequality are among the topics of conversation among the young people she’s spoken to on the campaign trail.
