Presumptive presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton is making her first trip to Iowa since the 2016 speculation took full effect.
Politico reported Monday that Hillary and President Bill Clinton would attend Sen. Tom Harkin’s annual steak-fry dinner on Sept. 14, Clinton’s first return to the state since the 2008 primary. Clinton aides told Politico that the trip was all about paying tribute to Harkin, who is retiring when his term ends next year.
But the 2016 implications were impossible to ignore.
You know who else spoke at the Iowa Steak Fry two years before a presidential election? Barack Obama in 2006. http://t.co/1N56jO4mOa

Some Iowan institutions had recently become a bit peeved with Clinton, who devoted a lot of energy to Iowa in 2008 only to lose handily, as the 2016 speculation heated up and she failed to make an appearance in the state with the first presidential nominating contest.
Gee, maybe she will run. Or maybe she’s just a big fan of 2 inch thick pork chops.
Pork chops and applesauce?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7rZEPVttuYA steak fry? Bill’s a vegan and probably won’t indulge, but seriously, is this what Iowans look for in a candidate? Oh, I get it. It’s called chewing the fat.
Is anybody else running? The betting market I just looked at had her at 5/4 to win the presidency. Seems a bit high at this point. Then again, they have 63 other names on the list and none of them seem very likely.
I don’t care. When she goes next month and if anything actually news worth occurs, report it then. Would be nice to see some reportage about Kurds and the Iraqi army recapturing the Mosul dam, but hey, that me be actual news about things that have actually occurred already and not this bit of high-school gossipy piffle.
