Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen referenced the terrorist attack on Benghazi while criticizing people on Tuesday for making such a big deal about Hillary Clinton’s use of personal email during her time as secretary of state.

During an appearance on CNN following Clinton’s news conference about the matter, Rosen took a swipe at Republicans who have focused on the 2012 attack in Libya that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and others.

“What do people think she was e-mailing that’s so secret?” Rosen said. “Like, oh my god, you know, ‘Tell Chris Stevens to do something.’ ‘Tell that country to give us $10 million and I’ll stop talking about women and girls.’

“I mean, like what do people think she was doing? That’s just not who she is.”

Rosen said she thought Clinton had done a reasonable job explaining the use of a personal email server. She said Clinton was surrounded by “honorable career officers” who helped the secretary follow proper procedures.

“I mean, this is just — now we’re gonna move into conspiracy theories, beyond where we go with her e-mail system,” Rosen said.
