The Republican lieutenant governor of South Carolina, Henry McMaster, endorsed Donald Trump on Wednesday evening, as more elected officials seem open to a Trump nomination.

“He is a man of accomplishment and speaks the truth in words everyone can understand, instills confidence in the people about our country’s bright future, and reflects and believes in the strength and determination necessary for success,” McMaster, the former state GOP chairman, said in a statement, according to The State.

South Carolina’s “first in the South” GOP primary is Feb. 20, on the heels of Iowa and New Hampshire.

Trump has received high profile endorsements recently from Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio and former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, but he has not yet been endorsed by a member of Congress or a sitting governor, according to a tally kept by FiveThirtyEight.

McMaster introduced Trump at a rally in South Carolina, urging state residents to vote for the real estate mogul.

“It’s not the dog in the fight that’s important, it’s the fight in the dog that’s important, and this dog has a lot of fight,” he said, according to The Hill.
