Police were negotiating with a suspected gunman early Monday morning inside a Phoenix, Arizona hospital, according to Phoenix TV station KNXV.
The suspect was contained to a portion of Phoenix Baptist Hospital’s emergency room, Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump told KNXV.
Crump said police took a knife away from the suspect in an initial confrontation at 4:20 a.m. ET. The suspect then pulled out a gun, he said.
Patients were being contained in an isolated area secured by police, according to KNXV.
Update: Police said the suspect surrendered and was in custody, according to KXNV.
