Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes attacked Republican Mitch McConnell for skipping committee meetings in a new TV ad released Friday.

“He only showed up seven percent of the time,” a narrator says. “If you did that, you’d get fired. So should he.”

A McConnell campaign spokeswoman didn’t contest the “seven percent” figure but said the ad demonstrates Grimes’ “profound lack of knowledge” about the office she’s seeking.

“Mitch McConnell appointed the conferees who negotiated the farm bill, secured the inclusion of the hemp provision for Kentucky, and assured the bill’s passage while Alison Grimes was trying to figure out how to get her dad to pay for her campaign bus,” said Allison Moore, a McConnell spokeswoman.

Grimes trails the Senate minority leader by 4.8 percentage points, according to the TPM PollTracker average.
