Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has appointed a replacement to the vacated finance minister spot, tapping economist and former government adviser Yannis Stournaras to fill the cabinet position. Stournaras will replace Vassilis Rapanos, who resigned on Monday citing health concerns.

Stournaras, the founder of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research, said he looked forward to the new job despite Greek’s myriad financial difficulties. “Greece has enormous potential,” he said, “but we must pass through a wall of established ways of thinking if Greece is to change.”
