Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) announced Wednesday that he will introduce legislation to address the nation’s background check system for gun purchases but gave no further specifics, Politico reports.
Graham called a press conference Wednesday where he announced his plans to reporters.
“My retort to my Democratic friends is that you can’t really feel safer by expanding a broken law,” Graham told reporters, saying he opposed Democratic proposals for a universal background check system.
Graham gave no specifics about what will be in his bill, he did specify that it was different from Democratic proposals, will not call for a universal background check system and will not close the gun show loophole.
Graham was clear on the fact that he felt current laws should be enforced, according to Politico.
