Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval touched on immigration in his speech at the Republican National Convention Tuesday night by calling America a “nation of immigrants.” More than many other speakers on Tuesday, Sandoval’s remarks made an effort to address Hispanics.
He described his interaction with immigrants as a federal judge in Nevada: “One of the greatest duties I performed was to administer the oath of citizenship to new Americans — immigrants who embody our dream of opportunity and prosperity.”
“I have seen Hispanic business owners and families from backgrounds — not unlike my own — struggle in this economy,” Sandoval said.
A “struggling” Hispanic business owner is scheduled to speak after Sandoval.
