Following reports of a mass Gmail outage, Google’s Gmail Twitter account tweeted the following at 1:36 pm ET: “#Gmail should be back for some of you already, and will be back for everyone soon. Thanks for your patience,” tweeting a link to Gmail’s service status webpage.
Google wrote on the page in a 1:24 pm ET update: “Google Mail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change.”
Earlier, Google noted that the outage affected “less than 2 percent” of Gmail’s 350 million active users, or about 7 million people.
Google also added that it would provide an update “with more information about this problem,” by 2:18 pm ET. Stay tuned.
