On the heels of providing voter registration information online, Google has released a new tool, the “civic information API,” a software kit for apps developers allowing them to create third-party apps using Google’s collection of “comprehensive voting information for an individual U.S. address, including polling place, early vote sites, contests, and local election official contact information.”

Google notes that the API doesn’t yet contain all of the information, but that it should by mid October.

And as for who Google’s supporting in the race, the company has had close ties to the Obama Administration in the past, but also hired former Republican Congresswoman Susan Molinari to head its D.C. lobbying office earlier this year. The company has also spent more of its PAC money on Republicans in the 2012 election cycle, according to Open Secrets
