Google on Thursday announced it had added a new computer specifically designed for students to its growing lineup of Chromebooks, PCs that run Google’s Web-based Chrome operating system: The Lenovo Thinkpad X131e starts at $429 and is designed to be more rugged than previous Chromebook laptops by Samsung and Acer, featuring “rubber bumper around the top cover, stronger corners, reinforced hinges and hinge brackets,” as Google wrote on its Enterprise blog. The laptop goes on sale in the U.S. on February 26. Here’s a promotional image via Google below:

Google also noted that Chromebooks are now in use in 1,000 schools around the country, challenging the more traditional Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac PC dominance in the education market.
