Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, on Tuesday sent a letter to FBI Director James Comey with questions about the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of private email servers.

“I am concerned that despite finding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton acted with extreme carelessness and that evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, the FBI is not recommending criminal charges against Secretary Clinton,” Goodlatte wrote in the letter.

The chairman asked the FBI how its findings led to the conclusion that Clinton should not be prosecuted, along with other inquiries about the way Clinton handled her emails.

Goodlatte told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday morning that Comey called him following the Tuesday announcement about the FBI’s probe into Clinton’s emails. Comey said he hoped to answer questions about the investigation soon, but did not answer questions over the phone, according to Goodlatte.

The chairman also said that Attorney General Loretta Lynch was already scheduled to testify before the Judiciary Committee next week, and she will now be questioned on Clinton’s use of personal email at the hearing.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) also said on Tuesday night that the House will hold a hearing to question Comey about the FBI’s findings from its investigation into Clinton’s email use.
