A prominent Kennedy family member claimed Monday that former President George H.W. Bush plans to vote for Hillary Clinton in November.
Robert Kennedy’s daughter, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, shared a Facebook photo of herself with the Bush family patriarch. The caption read, “The president told me he’s voting for Hillary!”
The image, which was not made public on Townsend’s page, was obtained by CNN.
A Bush family spokesman declined to confirm or deny the claim about the 41st president’s intentions.
“The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days,” Jim McGrath told CNN. “He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim.”
Both George H.W. and George W. Bush have refrained from publicly commenting on the 2016 race thus far, and declined to endorse Donald Trump ahead of the Republican National Convention in July. Trump’s former competitor in the primary race, Jeb Bush, has also refused to endorse the real estate mogul.
Good on ya, George. Vote country, not party!
Trump: He was always a loser. I am so glad I voted for his democratic opponent in '92. I knew he was a winner.
This made me chuckle. This should cause a bit of a freak out, which are always fun.
I always knew that Pappy was really the only smart one.
I think George HW should invite Donnie over for a bad sushi dinner, where George could fully project what he really thinks of Donnie.
