Christopher Dorner, the fugitive ex-cop suspected of killing three people, took cover Tuesday in a cabin near Big Bear, Calif., and was surrounded by law enforcement, the LA Times reported.

The ex-cop reportedly broke into a home in the San Bernardino mountains days ago, then tied up the couple who lived there and held them hostage until Tuesday morning.

Fish and Wildlife officers spotted Dorner on Tuesday morning driving in the area and tried to stop him, the Times reported. Dorner allegedly crashed the truck he was in and exchanged gunfire with officers as he fled to the cabin where he remained in the afternoon.

Two officers were injured in the gunbattle, the newspaper reported. The hunt for Dorner began Wednesday night.
