A Tennessee man allegedly shot and killed his friend on Saturday morning in what he told police was an accident, according to television station WREG.

The incident occurred at a gas station in Frayser, Tenn. while three young men were sitting in a parked vehicle, WREG reported. Police said Vinell Ayers and Fontaine Craft were playing with a gun in the back seat, pointing it at each other, when 19-year-old Ayers accidentally shot and killed Derrick Glasper, who was sitting in the driver’s seat.

Glasper was struck in the back and upper chest and died at a local hospital, WREG reported.

A police report about the shooting said video surveillance showed Ayers hiding the gun under a storage unit in the back of the store following the shooting, according to WREG. Ayers was arrested Saturday and charged with reckless homicide and tampering with or fabricating evidence, the television station reported.
