Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano diagnosed Chief Justice John Roberts with a kind of legal dual-personality on Friday.

Napolitano thwacked Roberts minutes after the Supreme Court handed down its decision legalizing same-sex marriage, saying that his opinion sounded wildly different than his approving stance on Obamacare on Thursday.

“I’m not gonna question the chief justice’s motivation — but it does sound like two different people,” Napolitano said.

He contrasted Roberts’ opinion on Friday, which leaned heavily on the concept of states rights, with his decision on Thursday to uphold Obamacare’s tax subsidies from the federal government.

“Why he did what he did yesterday is between him and his heart. We will never know,” he added, calling Roberts’ opinion on the Obamacare subsidies “reprehensible.”
