Fox News is obsessed with Benghazi. That’s not secret. But here’s a fact buried in Politico Magazine national editor Michael Hirsh’s article discussing the “Benghazi-Industrial Complex“: the word Benghazi has been mentioned on no fewer than 1,101 Fox News programs in the past year.
According to Hirsh, that figure comes from Nexis.
“The chyron ‘Benghazi’ is almost as much of a permanent fixture on Fox as ‘Breaking News’ is on CNN,” Hirsh writes.

Perhaps Fox News can team up with their “sister station” CNN and they could look for a Benghazi smoking gun somewhere over the Indian ocean?
Not surprising. What is even more disgraceful is how people in the news business treat Faux Spews like its an actual news entity as opposed to the political propaganda outfit that it is.
I’m thinking the House Benghazi committee will backfire horribly. There already seems to be a sort of consensus among the mainstream media that the committee is a nakedly political attempt to excite the Republican base while tarring and feathering Obama and Clinton. I’ve noticed that some of the most prolific purveyors of “both sideserism” are dismissing it as political theater.
Even that stat belies the depth of their obsession. 1100 is only about 3 times a day. That doesn’t really seem like much.
It’s their wild accusations and insinuations that are more troubling than the number of times they say a word. It’s the fact that they don’t retract claims that have been disproven. It’s the fact that they continue to invite guests on to spew lies and misinformation.
But, it makes me wonder how many times they said “Yellowcake” from 2003 through “mission accomplished.”
