Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) is scheduled to show up to serve his 15-month federal prison sentence today for a hush money case related to decades-old allegations of sexual abuse.
According to a report from ABC News, Hastert will serve out his term at a Minnesota medical prison.
Hastert was sentenced in May for illegally structuring $1.7 million in bank withdrawals as he paid an alleged victim of abuse committed when Hastert was a high school wrestling coach decades ago. While the statute of limitations had expired on the allegations of abuse, the stories of several victims were revealed as the case unfolded. They weighed heavily over Hastert’s May sentencing.
U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin said at the time according to a report from the Chicago Tribune, that “nothing is more stunning than having ‘serial child molester’ and ‘speaker of the House’ in the same sentence.”
When Hastert is released from prison, he will have to serve 2 years of supervised release.
It’s always the money trail that gets you, disgusting child molester.
Happily, in California, the state legislature is taking up a proposal to eliminate the statute of limitations for rape and sexual assault. They are also tightening up the definition of rape thanks to the Stanford swimmer rapist.
He may enjoy his stay
Republicans have been totally silent on this man’s behavior. All that moral indignation, self-righteousness, Christian values stuff: not a peep. These hypocrites have been let down by the former Speaker and pedophile. And he goes to “medical prison” - that’s justice for the “well-connected”…Where is the Immoral Majority?
Prison wolves use the term ‘nursing assistant’ rather than ‘punk’ or ‘bitch’…
May his soap keep slipping out of his hands when taking a shower.
