Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will spend this weekend in prison for a violation of parole, the Associated Press reported Friday.
Kilpatrick was convicted in 2008 for obstruction of justice. As part of his parole, Kilpatrick is legally required to report all gifts and income, which he has routinely neglected to do. According to the AP, Kilpatrick still owes the city of Detroit $855,000 in restitution.

In a news release issued Friday morning, Michigan Corrections spokesman Russ Marlan says Kilpatrick was charged with 14 counts of violating his parole. When given the opportunity to waive the formal parole violation process and serve three days at a Detroit lockup, he agreed.
