Venture capital behemoth Andreessen Horowitz has hired former Washington, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty as a “special advisor,” TechCrunch reported late Wednesday.
Fenty’s specific new duties will be part-time and involve splitting time between D.C. and Silicon Valley while vetting startups to potentially add to Andreeseen Horowitz’s portfolio (the company has backed many of the major startup successes of the past decade, including Facebook, Foursquare, Instagram, Skype, Twitter, Groupon and Zynga).
