Malia Obama was so afraid of being embarrassed by her father that she considered not introducing some of her friends to the President at a recent meeting, according to a People Magazine interview with Michelle and Barack Obama.

“Malia had friends over, and there was a question about whether she was going to even introduce them [to her dad], because sometimes he gets a little formal, asking them about school and interests,” Michelle Obama told People in an interview published Wednesday. “She says, ‘I don’t know if my friends can handle that.'”

The First Lady and the President both said, however, that he did not embarrass Malia during the introductions.

“But she said that you actually did quite well,” Michelle Obama said.

The President agreed.

“I acquitted myself well,” he said. “I did not embarrass her.”

Some noted that Malia Obama looked embarrassed by her dad during the turkey pardon ceremony this year.
