A Florida man on Saturday shot a woman in the forehead with a gun he thought he had completely unloaded earlier.

At a social gathering at Jamie Martin’s home, she “jokingly slapped” Elliot Orsborn (pictured above), according to Jacksonville radio station WOKV.

Orsborn then pulled out a .22 caliber revolver and shot Martin in the forehead, Orsborn told police, according to TV station WJAX.

Martin was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Martin’s roommate told police the shooting was an accident, according to WJAX. Orsborn allegedly emptied the bullets from the gun earlier in the night, not realizing that there was still a bullet left.

According to police, Orsborn fled the home after shooting and was later arrested at his home and charged with manslaughter.

Martin’s two young children were in her home asleep at the time of the shooting.

Orsborn is a convicted felon and was not allowed to possess a gun, according to WJAX. He was convicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and has also been charged with marijuana possession.
