Barry Layne Moore, the Hampton, Fla. mayor charged with possessing and selling drugs this week, also has an arrest record that includes a battery charge.
- Moore was arrested and charged with battery in October 2012.
- Two months later, in December 2012, he was booked with a probation violation.
- Moore was also arrested for battery in 2005, but was not charged, according to the Florida Times-Union.
- The mayor had three non-moving traffic violations in 2011, with fines totalling $1000.
Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith, who arrested Moore on Monday, explained his action by claiming that the city of Hampton “isn’t Toronto,” a reference to crack-smoking mayor Rob Ford.
