A Florida GOP lawmaker on said in a March speech that officials hired to implement Common Core standards will turn kids gay, Think Progress reported on Monday.
During a speech at the Operation Education Conference in Orlando, state Rep. Charles Van Zant (R) warned attendees against American Institutes for Research, which Florida has hired to create state testing based on Common Core standards.
“They are promoting as hard as they can, any youth that is interested in the LGBT agenda,” Van Zant said about American Institutes for Research. “These people that will now receive $220 million from the state of Florida, unless this is stopped, will promote double-mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can.”
“I’m sorry to report that to you,” he continued. “I really hate to bring you that news, but you need to know.”
AIR disputed similar claims in March.
“We are not an advocacy group,” AIR spokesman Larry McQuillan told PolitiFact. “AIR is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization. We do educational assessment, research, health policy research and communication, and international development. We have supported many states by providing high-quality assessments of their specific state standards.”

Why, oh, why are elected officials in my State so effin’ stupid?
The guy who talks about “double mindedness” has no mind, so how would he know.
In the future the vast majority of people will laugh at these fools and their ridiculous scare tactics, as I do now.
Because not enough of us in FL get the hell out and vote. That’s all it would take to lose these guys in five or six years.
Is there a secret breeding camp deep in the South that creates these nut cases ? Are they designed Gray haired, grumpy, prejudiced, old farts?
