The chairman of Florida’s Republican Party candidly told his GOP brethren that the scandal enveloping the Internal Revenue Service represents an “opportunity” that should be exploited for political gain, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

Lenny Curry, chairman of the state’s GOP, offered his advice in a memo circulated to 17 House members.

“Let there be no mistake, the IRS wields considerable power. It touches the lives of millions of Americans. And once ObamaCare comes into effect, the IRS will have an even broader scope, affecting every American,” Curry said in the memo. “We need to play big, bold hardball now. This is an opportunity where good politics and good policy intersect well.”
