First GOP Lawmaker Embraces Dem Calls For FBI Probe Of Kavanaugh Allegations

Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) is the first Republican lawmaker to suggest that Brett Kavanaugh should be investigated by the FBI, telling The Hill on Wednesday that he doesn’t think there’s any reason not to.

“I think there should be an investigation by the FBI. I really do,” Jones told The Hill. “What in the world difference would 10 days make? Why not wait 10 days, why not wait two weeks to find out the truth?”

While Senate Republicans’ views on the Kavanaugh confirmation are of higher consequence, Jones’s embrace of an FBI probe is notable, given Republicans in the Senate, and the White House, have ignored Democrat’s request for a probe into the allegations that have been levied against Kavanaugh in recent days.

Maybe the Republicans on the committee already know the truth and don’t think Kavanaugh would survive an investigation? Just a guess.

  3. Yay, a principled Republican who can do absolutely nothing about this.

  4. Still, Jim Jordan will show up at his door and challenge him to some Greco-Roman wrasslin. As part as his campaign to be the next Speaker of Da House.
