Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner (D) was charged with battery and false imprisonment, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Tuesday.

Filner, who resigned from office following allegations of inappropriate conduct toward nearly 20 women, faces a felony charge of false imprisonment by violence, fraud, and deceit as well as multiple misdemeanor counts of battery against a trio of women according to the San Diego Superior Court.

The court will hold a hearing on the charges at 10 a.m. in San Diego.

A week earlier the Union-Tribune reported that a criminal grand jury would hear potential criminal charges against Filner, who resigned from office on Aug. 30.
