A federal prosecutor who used an alias to make inflammatory online comments about cases he was involved in has resigned his job in the U.S. Attorney’s offfice for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the Times-Picayune reports.

Sal Perricone was being investigated by the Justice Department’s internal Office of Professional Responsibility. Using the name “Henry L. Mencken1951,” Perricone posed about 600 comments — many of which were critical of federal judges and local and national politicians — on NOLA.com over the past six months, according to the newspaper.
