Attorney General Eric Holder has proposed meeting with House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in an effort to prevent a vote on Wednesday on a resolution finding Holder in contempt of Congress.

Holder agreed to give the Oversight Committee a briefing and a batch of documents which “explain how the Department’s understanding of the facts of Operations Fast and Furious, Wide Receiver and similar Arizona-based investigations evolved during the post-February 4 period, and the proces that led to the withdraw of the February 4 letter.” (The February 4, 2011 letter falsely claimed that ATF did not allow guns to “walk” during investigations.)

“In light of you inclusion of Senator Grassley, and in keeping with the protocols of this investigaiton, we expect that Chairman Leahy and Ranking Member Cummings would alo participate in order to finalize our accommodation agreement with the Committee and avoid and unnecessary Constitutional confrontation,” Holder wrote to Issa.
