Seven extended family members of Republican lawyer Adam Laxalt on Thursday endorsed his Democratic opponent in the Nevada Attorney General race.

In an endorsement in the Las Vegas Sun, members of the Laxalt family wrote that Democrat Ross Miller is the “most qualified candidate.”

“It is our belief that Ross Miller’s documented history of pulling himself up by his own bootstraps and establishing a well-respected career in law and public service while still maintaining a strong sense of family and community constitute the critical characteristics needed for Nevada’s highest legal office,” they wrote.

All of the individuals who signed the endorsement appear to be extended family members.

Adam Laxalt is the son of former Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM) and Michelle Laxalt, the daughter of former Sen. Paul Laxalt (R-NV). Most members of the Domenici and Laxalt families did not learn that Adam was Domenici’s son until about 30 years after Adam was born. Domenici was married to Nancy Domenici at the time of Adam’s birth.

The Michelle Laxalt who endorsed Ross is not Adam’s mother, according to reporter John Ralston.

The Ross endorsement by the Laxalt family is not the first hit to Adam Laxalt and his campaign. His former employer described him as a “train wreck” in a job performance evaluation.
