Eric Trump seems surprised that Donald Trump’s Wednesday night speech on immigration prompted several members of the campaign’s Hispanic Advisory Council to withdraw their support, noting that his father has been “consistent” on his immigration policy.
When asked Friday on “Fox and Friends” about the advisers’ resignations, Eric Trump said it “is actually pretty amazing considering the speech was actually very consistent and he has been very, very consistent with his plan.”
Co-host Brian Kilmeade then asked Eric Trump whether the campaign planned on reaching out to the advisers who had resigned to clarify Donald Trump’s immigration policy.
“I think so,” Eric Trump replied, but he did not elaborate further.
Since Trump delivered his long-awaited speech in Phoenix on Wednesday, at least four members of his Hispanic Advisory Council has resigned in disappointment.
Jacob Monty, one of the former members, lamented to CNN on Thursday that he had been optimistic that Trump would soften his position on deportation, only to be very disappointed.
“I was actively defending him on media because I thought he heard us,” Monty told CNN. “And we had a lot of hope. And frankly, we saw a lot of hope.”
“We saw nothing but positive signs. And they were all dashed yesterday with a speech that was not Republican and not compassionate at all,” he added.
Another member who resigned, Pastor Ramiro Pena, told the Republican National Committee that Trump “lost the election” Wednesday night, according to Politico.
“The ‘National Hispanic Advisory Council’ seems to be simply for optics and I do not have the time or energy for a scam,” Pena added in his email telling the RNC that he was resigning, per Politico.

All you frogs trying to get across a river with a scorpion on your back, you knew who my dad was when you agreed to carry him!
Donnie has been consistent(ly)
“My father has been unwaveringly, utterly, consistently and completely full of shit from day one.”
How long will it be before Mr. Monty and Mr. Pena are hit with a lawsuit for violating their non-disclosure agreement. I heard that even phone bankers have to sign one.
He was much better when he did “Paranoimia”
