Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said recently that she’s been treated differently by her male counterparts, but she declined to share any specific experiences.

During a CNN interview while she was campaigning for Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO) in Colorado, Warren responded “yes” when asked if male senators approached her differently due to her gender.

When asked to elaborate, Warren said “nope” twice.

“I’ve said all I’m going to say,” she said.

CNN then asked if that was surprising.

“Not really, I wish it were,” Warren responded. “But it’s hard to change these big, male-dominated institutions. What I am very happy about is that there are now enough women in the United States Senate to begin to change that place, and I think that’s just powerfully important.”

“You know, others have said it before me. If you don’t have a seat at the table, you’re probably on the menu,” she added.

Warren said that the Senate needs “women who are there to help advance an agenda that is important to women.”
