Phil Robertson, the star of A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” will speak at the Republican Leadership Conference on Thursday, the Republican National Committee announced on Tuesday.

RNC Chair Reince Priebus and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) will also speak at the conference in New Orleans on Thursday.

Robertson came under fire last year when he made controversial anti-gay comments during an interview with GQ.

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he said in the interview. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

Though the show was suspended after Robertson’s rant, it is back on air, and the Robertsons remain a favorite of conservatives, especially those in their home state Louisiana.

This is SO confusing. I thought the Republicans detested those “Hollywood” types. And look at that picture - who wouldn’t want that as the face of a better future???

  4. What about Bundy and bringing him back in the fold? Why not two idiots instead of one?

  5. Ah, right. I was trying to remember who had bridged the chronological gap in the litany of “salt of the earth” objects of conservative hero worship between Joe the Plumber and Cliven Bundy (not counting Sarah Palin). I knew there was someone I was forgetting about. Thank you, TPM, for reminding me.
