The DSCC issued a statement from chair Sen. Patty Murray, going after Republican Senators who voted in favor of the Blunt Amendment to allow employers to deny coverage of medical care that violates their religious or moral beliefs. Their email pointed specifically to votes in favor of the amendment for Scott Brown (R-MA) who is running for reelection against Elizabeth Warren and Dean Heller (R-NV) who is running against Rep. Shelley Berkley:

“Republicans made a very calculated decision to change the focus away from our economic recovery and focus instead on divisive social issues,” said Senator Patty Murray, chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “It is despicable the way Republicans have used their power in Washington to wage a war against women’s health care. But what is even more frightening is when you look across the country at all the Republican Senate candidates that want to continue fighting these social issues and roll back women’s rights in this country. This is not what voters want. It’s time to end the culture wars and get to work for the middle class, creating good-paying jobs.  That’s the Democratic vision that our candidates are talking about around the country.”

The DSCC released a video yesterday, putting the contraception issue front and center in 2012 Senate races of several women running for the Senate.

The Senate voted to table the amendment.
