The doctor who carried out a private autopsy on Michael Brown expressed a pretty old-school view on marijuana in a Monday interview with Fox News, when he speculated that the drug may have made the black teen act “crazy” at the time he was shot by a white cop.

Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City chief medical examiner, determined that the 18-year-old was shot six times, including twice in the head, by Ferguson, Mo. police officer Darren Wilson. A second autopsy carried out by St. Louis County reportedly found that Brown had marijuana in his system when he was shot on Aug. 9.

“Does the fact that they found marijuana, does that exclude the fact that there might be other drugs in his system or even that the marijuana was laced with anything?” host Greta Van Susteren asked Baden. “Is that the final analysis or could there be more information to come in terms of the toxicology?”

Baden cautioned that he hadn’t seen the toxicology report before suggesting that high levels of the drug could have affected Brown’s behavior when he encountered Wilson.

“Very important with marijuana is the levels of the different drugs that are present in marijuana to have an opinion as to whether or not he might have been affected by the marijuana, so that he may have been acting in a crazy way and may have done things to the police officer that normally he would not have done,” he said.
