After a contentious weekend full of attacks against Fox News and host Megyn Kelly, Trump indicated on Tuesday morning that he had mended his relationship with the network.

In an interview with CNN’s “New Day” co-host Chris Cuomo, Trump said that he spoke with Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes over the phone on Monday. Cuomo asked Trump if he made a “deal” with Ailes.

“Roger Ailes has been a friend of mine for a long time. He called me yesterday,” Trump replied. “I was very angry with the way I was treated.”

Trump said that he’s now “fine with it.”

When Cuomo asked if Trump made a deal with Fox to keep Megyn Kelly from responding to personal attacks Trump made against her, Trump said that he and Ailes “didn’t even discuss that.”

“It’s not about Megyn Kelly,” he said. “There was a misinterpretation of what I said.”

“Roger has done an amazing job at Fox. He called me, and I have no problem,” Trump continued.

In a Monday evening statement, Ailes confirmed that he spoke to Trump over the phone and that “the air has been cleared.” Trump made an appearance on Fox News on Monday morning after an absence from the network following his comment that Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her wherever” during the GOP presidential debate.

Earlier in his interview with Cuomo, Trump continued to defend his comment about Kelly.

“It was a ridiculous interpretation,” he said. “I don’t even know how it could be misconstrued, unless somebody’s a deviant.”

“Unless you have sort of a semi-sick mind or a very sick mind, you wouldn’t have thought — that would not be the normal though process,” he continued.
