Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd in an op-ed published Saturday that retweeting the picture of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’s wife, Heidi, was a “mistake.”
In a piece that called for Trump to act more presidential, Dowd wrote that she told Trump that he lost her sister’s vote after he retweeted a meme that had an unflattering picture of Heidi next to a more flattering picture of his wife, Melania.
“Yeah, it was a mistake,” he reportedly told her. “If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t have sent it.”
Dowd wrote that she stopped Trump when he started to argue that the retweet wasn’t “necessarily as negative.”

The Donald: “It was a mistake” translation, I didn’t get the reaction I thought I would get.
Seems to be back pedaling quite a lot these days .
My thoughts about The Rump haven’t changed but I do have a much dimmer view of Maureen Dowd’s sister. Really? He was a cool guy with great ideas until the Heidi Cruz retweet changed everything?
Big Mouth admints a mistake??!!??
Weakness by his own definition of what “Manliness” is
He added: “You know, there are a lot of people who say, ‘Don’t change.’ I can be as presidential as anybody who ever lived. I can be so presidential if I want.”
No Donald, there’s a yuuuuge difference between acting presidential and actually being presidential. If you truly understood that (one can hope) you never would have run for the office.
