Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Monday that he would refuse to take a government salary if he is elected President of the United States.
Trump took part in a Twitter Q&A in which he responded through video to questions posed to him by users.
A user named @Modern_Do_Good asked Trump if he would forego the presidential salary if elected.
The President earns a salary of $400,000 per year.
“I’m totally self-funding my campaign. I won’t take money other than the small stuff because people are invested and I like that when they invest in the campaign. But I don’t take the big dollars,” Trump said. “As far as the salary is concerned, I won’t take even $1, I am totally giving up my salary if I become President.”

Wow! A multi-billionaire refusing 400 Large. That’s a real sacrifice! He must be dead serious about doing a good job!
Perhaps if he swore he’d refuse to tweet any more…
So would he call it “Trump Change”? This almost makes him sound as magnanimous as Mittens.
I’d be more impressed if he had said that included giving up the pension. Sorry, actually, no I wouldn’t. Not taking a salary means he doesn’t work for us.
No salary? That’s paying him what he’d be worth.
