The prepared remarks for Donald Trump’s first major address as the Republican presidential nominee include no mention of several key conservative causes, including the hard-line solutions to immigration and the threat of terrorism that he has pushed for months out on the campaign trail.

Trump is expected to paint a dark portrait of a country in crisis, with an immigration crisis at home and America’s stature on the world stage faltering, according to the nominee’s prepared remarks, which leaked hours before the event.

But the real estate mogul’s draft makes no mention of traditional marriage, abortion, or religious freedom, three bread-and-butter conservative issues.

While Trump is expected to again promise to build a “great border wall” to stop undocumented immigrants from unlawfully entering the country, the draft makes no mention of his campaign trail refrain that Mexico would pay for its construction.

The speech also contains just one short reference to gun rights. Trump will promise a Supreme Court justice to replace the late Antonin Scalia who has “similar views and principles.”

“My opponent wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment,” the prepared remarks read. “I, on the other hand, received the early and strong endorsement of the National Rifle Association and will protect the right of all Americans to keep their families safe.”

Trump is also expected to thank the “evangelical community” for being “so good to me and so supportive,” but the billionaire’s speech includes no other references to God or his own religious faith.

Correction: This post has been updated to remove a reference to Trump’s proposed Muslim ban going unmentioned. Trump’s prepared remarks included a plan to “suspend immigration from any nation that has been compromised by terrorism until such time as proven vetting mechanisms have been put in place.”

Well at least they added the word “essentially”.

  2. It’s only a giant pack of lies…no big deal, right?

  3. Wow… way to inspire a nation! Doom and gloom and false finger pointing. But the right way to unite the party around an anti-PC platform! Every time I hear that Trump has started a “movement”, the only thing that comes to mind is bowel movement!

  4. If he sticks with the script this is going to last forever. Way past 11…

  5. It would be one thing to call Trump a boy who cried wolf, meaning he has no credibility, but the boy himself wasn’t malicious or a lying scumbucket by nature – he was just frightened and had no sense of perspective. When Trump speaks, he has no credibility whatsoever because he routinely lies, fully aware that he’s lying, and continues to do so for the alleged benefit he gets by manipulating idiots who don’t know any better. Trump’s lies are 100% malicious – it’s all he’s got. He refuses to do the heavy lifting that’s required for a person in his position, because he’s lazy and stupid. But he thinks he can fool enough people that his laziness won’t be the issue – Obama’s failures and Hillary’s crookedness are much simpler topics to tackle. Since he puts no value on the truth, he can say whatever he wants, he can condemn Jesus Christ himself and insist that he’s right – because he’s so smart and uses the right words – and the people who find him fascinating and influential will agree because they’re one step below functional illiterates.

The fact that 40% of Americans see this man of vote-worthy scares the fuck outta me.
