After federal elections filings showed Democrat Hillary Clinton’s fundraising numbers dwarfing Republican Donald Trump’s last month, Trump came back swinging on Tuesday, accusing Clinton of wheeling and dealing to raise “blood money” to fund her campaign.

“Every time she raises money, she’s making deals. Just saying, ‘Could I be the ambassador to this? Could I do that? Make sure my business is taken care of.’ I mean, give me a break,” Trump told CBS News. “All of the money she’s raising, that’s blood money. That’s blood money. And I was one of the biggest donors.”

Trump went on to say he “gave a lot of money to everybody” and borrowed a line of attack from Clinton’s rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

“Look, she’s getting tremendous amounts of money from Wall Street. She’s gonna take care of Wall Street,” he said. “She’s getting tremendous amounts of money from lots of people. She’s gonna take care of all those people.”

FEC filings released Tuesday showed Trump’s campaign had just $1.3 million in cash on hand compared to Clinton’s more than $41 million. The numbers shocked Republican strategists, who say the New York businessman’s sluggish fundraising could spell disaster for down ballot GOP candidates.
