Donald Trump on Wednesday defended his decision to use Bill Clinton to attack Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and said that his recent comments may have prompted the former Secretary of State not to mention Trump on the trail again.

During a rally in South Carolina, Trump noted that Clinton has “been hitting me really hard with the woman card.” Clinton last week said that Trump has demonstrated a penchant for sexism.” In response to her comment, Trump criticized former President Bill Clinton, alluding to the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

On Wednesday, Trump brought up Bill Clinton again, suggesting that the real estate mogul’s comments about the former president effectively stopped Hillary Clinton from mentioning Trump.

He noted that he had brought up Bill Clinton’s “abuse of women” and that, “now today the television is going crazy.” According to Trump, Hillary Clinton did not mention him on Wednesday.

“I wonder why,” Trump told the crowd in South Carolina.

The billionaire also said he would “love, love, love” to see a woman become president, but said that it “can’t be her,” arguing that women don’t like Hillary Clinton.
