Donald Sterling doesn’t sound like a man willing to roll over, with a lawyer for the embattled Los Angeles Clippers owner saying Tuesday that his client “is going to fight to the bloody end” in the NBA’s pursuit to terminate his ownership of the franchise.
The defiant vow followed reports last week that Sterling had agreed to allow his wife, Shelly, to negotiate the forced sale of the Clippers.
The NBA is calling for a June 3 meeting of the its board of governors to vote on whether to terminate Donald Sterling’s ownership as part of the league’s punishment for racist remarks he made to his girlfriend, V. Stiviano.
Sterling’s attorney, Max Blecher, told ESPN that his client has no intention of selling the team.
“I don’t know what agreement [Shelly Sterling] has with him, but I’m saying to you today, he disavows anything she’s doing to sell the team,” Blecher said. “He says, ‘It’s my team, and I’ll sell it when and if I get around to it.'”
