A New York doctor allegedly choked a woman and forced her to swallow a birth control bill after she reportedly informed him that she was pregnant, police told the Associated Press in an article published on Friday.
Police told the AP the incident occurred inside a home on Wednesday night. Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office reportedly responded to a home in Rosendale, N.Y. after receiving a “no voice” 911 call.
Dr. Thomas Pfeiffer, a 44-year-old anesthesiologist, allegedly choked the woman after learning that a home pregnancy test she’d taken was positive, the AP reported.
Pfeiffer was charged with strangulation, assault and committing an “abortional act,” according to the AP. The woman was treated at a hospital and eventually released.
At this time, police haven’t specified the nature of the relationship between the woman and Pfeiffer.
