After clashes between protesters and supporters of the presumptive GOP nominee left people beaten and bloodied in the streets of San Jose, California, Donald Trump on Friday morning blamed the chaos on a “small group of thugs.”

He tweeted:

Photos and videos of the Thursday evening event show a Trump supporter who was egged, rally attendees getting punched in the face, and protesters burning the campaign’s signature Make America Great Again hats.
