Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA), vice chairman of the DNC, said that the tone is more positive in Charlotte at the Democratic convenvention. “There is no vitriolic denigrating of ‘bad’ people like we witnessed on the Tampa stage,” Honda said, according to his communications director, Michael Shank. “People are nice here.”

Honda also played up diversity as a distinguishing characteristic: “In fact, all of America is here in Charlotte — in all its colors, creeds and orientations — which is another DNC difference. Unprecedented transparency and community access so that everyone gets a seat at the democratic discussion table.”
